Continuous and pulsed current
SwiSto3 continuous and pulsed current therapy with one machine for the treatment of hand, foot and underarm perspiration. KaWe’s 3rd generation, the latest technology and manufacturing experience for more than 20 years.
The elevated tendency to perspire on the feet, hands and underarms is often very uncomfortable for those affected. Iontophoresis has proven to be an effective, cost-efficient in the long-term, safe and easy-to-use form of therapy for this situation. Compared to injections or operative therapy, iontophoresis therapy is pain-free. Medications can cause side effects.
The new SwiSto3, with its modern design is extremely user-friendly and provides you with two possible treatment options for the treatment of hyperhidrosis:
- therapy with continuous current or
- therapy with pulsed current
The new SwiSto3 does not have language software. The user is simply guided through the menu and confirms the desired setting by pressing the SET button. The graphic LCD module illuminates shows all of the setting in a clear and organized manner. The user can change the current intensity unaided during the treatment, so that neither a second person nor a foot switch are necessary. The automatic current control function prevents the user of this equipment from feeling an electric shock (electric fence effect) when removing their hands and feet from the water trays during treatment. The SwiSto3 is equipped with an automatic shutoff. If the device is not switched off after a treatment is finished, it switches itself off automatically after 2 minutes.
Prescription of home therapy devices
Iontophoresis therapy must always be started by one’s attending physician. After the treatment has begun to produce results, maintenance treatment that is to be performed at home may be recommended. This home therapy must however be regularly monitored by the attending physician (for example, every 3 months). A justified request for insurance coverage of this procedure is to be obtained from the attending physician and submitted to your insurance provider. Depending on the situation, coverage of the cost is very often approved. Should you have questions or problems, we would be glad to assist you.
Please consult your physician if you have any of the following conditions: cardiac arrhythmia, pregnancy, pacemakers or metal implants, metal-containing intrauterine devices (contraceptive coil), major skin defects that cannot be covered with Vaseline, insensitivity to painful stimuli.
The product video on our home page is to be used to learn how to use the SwiSto3. Please be sure to watch this video before using this device for the first time.
Use
Iontophoresis treatment for hyperhidrosis manum et pedum is a physical application. It was first described by Boumann and Grunewald-Lentzer in 1952. Continuous or pulsed current cause ion transport through the skin.
The plastic treatment trays are filled with approx. 3-4 cm of luke-warm water, such that the surfaces of the hands and feet are covered. Before filling the trays, the electrodes must be covered with the foam pads in order to prevent direct contact with the skin. The sponge pockets used for underarm treatment are to be soaked thoroughly with water before use. The treatment should be performed at least 3 times per week with an average treatment time of 15 to 20 minutes until the desired healing results have been achieved. Usually, this takes place after approx. 10-15 treatments. Thereafter, maintenance treatments should be performed regularly (at least once a week) in order to maintain the successful therapy results. The current that flows through the electrode plates can, depending on application (hands, feet, underarms), be adjusted up to a maximum of 25 mA. We recommend, that the polarity be switched if the skin is thickly calloused as the anode is said to have a stronger empirical efficacy.
Additional healing results
In addition, scientific test have shown that this therapy can also lead to excellent treatment results for gram-negative foot infection, dyshidrotic eczema, pustulosis palmaris et plantaris, acrocyanosis and osteoarthrosis.
Please consult your physician if you have any of the following conditions:
- Cardiac arrhythmia
- Pregnancy
- Pacemakers or metal implants
- Metal-containing intrauterine devices (contraceptive coil)
- Major skin defects that cannot be covered with Vaseline
- Insensitivity to painful stimuli
Cleaning and disinfection
The plastic water trays and the electrodes are to be cleaned thoroughly after each use with disinfecting agent. For hygienic reasons, the foam pads and sponge pockets are only to be used by one and the same patient. If possible, the use of skin crèmes and oils should be avoided during treatments.
